He had legendary battles against Kawada, Hansen, Kenta Kobashi, and Steve Dr. Death Williams in singles competition. Misawa would continue as a mainstay in AJPW until the early part of this decade. After the death of Giant Baba, he left to establish Pro Wrestling NOAH. He would serve as the companys president while wrestling a full time schedule until his untimely death.

GelaSkins Now Sells Matte-Finish Skins for eReaders

I received an email from GelaSkins the other day about how they now sell all their ereader skins with a velvety matte finish instead of the usual gloss finish.

The matte finish helps to eliminate glare, of course, an always important factor with ebook readers. The change only affects ereader skins; all the other skins from GelaSkins still have the glossy finish like always.

This is a good change because that was one of my concerns with the GelaSkin that I put on my Sony PRS-T1 awhile back to help eliminate the glossy finish on the PRS-T1's frame. The skin helped minimize glare somewhat, but the skin itself was glossy so light still reflected off of it enough to make the difference negligible.

Now with the new matte finish skins glare should be a non-issue. And GelaSkins has skins for the major brands of ereaders: Kindle, Nook, Sony, and Kobo. I think I might try to snag one for the Kindle Touch to see what the new matte finish looks and feels like.

I never got around to putting together an official review for the Sony PRS-T1 skin, but I did post this review of the Kindle Fire Steampunk skin.

The problem is skins don’t mix well with the Sony PRS-T1's lighted cover. The cover wraps around the edges slightly so it pushes up the edges of the skin on the front of the device so I had to take it off. Plus I wasn’t a fan of the pink coloration on the design that I picked (choose carefully!). However, I really like the skin on my Kindle Fire and it’s still in great shape.

Three Ways to Expand the Kindle Fire’s Limited Storage Space

The Kindle Fire is Amazon’s first tablet and while it has a lot of good things going for it, one of the three biggest disappointments with the Kindle Fire is the fact that it comes with just 5.37 GB of available storage space (plus an additional 1.17 GB for apps) and doesn’t have any memory card slots or support for USB drives for memory expansion.

Amazon opted to use the opportunity to promote their cloud storage service on the Kindle Fire instead, where you store your files online with Amazon to access them from anywhere you have an internet connection. Cloud storage is a good option, and you can use other cloud storage services too (more on this below), but there are some other ways to add more storage, ones that don’t require you to be connected to the internet to use them.

#1. Kingston Wi-Drive - The Kingston Wi-Drive is an external hard drive that connects to the Kindle Fire using Wi-Fi. Kingston Wi-Drives come in 16 GB and 32 GB varieties, and soon 64 GB as well. They work with Apple’s iDevices too.

Up to three devices can be connected to a Kingston Wi-Drive at a time, and each user can access different content simultaneously. You use the Wi-Drive Android app on the Kindle Fire to access the device. The Wi-Drive also lets you connect to a second network so you can access the internet while using it.

#2. Splashtop Remote Desktop - The Kingston Wi-Drive is a good option is you want portable storage and the ability to easily share it with other devices at the same time, but if you want to easily access all the files on your PC and stream them to the Kindle Fire, the Splashtop Remote Desktop App can do just that.

You can literally access and use all your programs and files on your computer from the Kindle Fire itself. And as long as your computer is turned on and has Splashtop Streamer running you can access it from anywhere your Kindle Fire has an internet connection.

There are also other apps that you can use to access your computer to transfer and stream media from a Kindle Fire and vice versa. WiFi File Explorer PRO is one example and is available from the Amazon appstore on the Kindle Fire.

#3. Kindle Fire Cloud Storage - Amazon isn’t the only place that offers cloud storage; there are many choices. Below are three that I’m familiar with that work on the Kindle Fire, and each offers free space. Sign up for all three and you’ll already have over 12 GB of free space, with the potential of getting up to 50 GB or more in free storage space by referring others.

Amazon Cloud Drive – Get 5 GB free storage space. Plans start at $20 per year for 20 GB up to $1000 per year for 1000 GB. For a limited time Amazon is offering unlimited space for music with all paid storage plans.

A Look at A Game of Thrones, the Enhanced eBook Edition

As ebooks continue to evolve, publishers and authors are coming up with new ways to add enhanced content to them, such as audio and video and other potentially distracting goodies.

A Game of Thrones, the first book in George Martin’s epic A Song of Fire and Ice series, is now available as an enhanced ebook, but only in the UK for some reason.

The enhanced version of A Game of Thrones features an interactive map that tracks the main characters throughout the book and provides additional information about the characters. It includes embedded audio clips from the audio book read aloud by Roy Dotrice.

In addition to the dynamic map, the ebook also features two exclusive new maps featuring detailed renderings of King’s Landing and The Wall, and presents readers with a fully hyperlinked glossary, allowing them to look-up character details and family lineage at any point in the plot. Thirteen audio clips, featuring award-winning actor Roy Dotrice’s rendering of Martin’s epic, are also integrated throughout the novel.

I don’t know about the audio content, but the interactive map and hyperlinked glossary adds a lot to a book like this. With so many characters and shifts in view points, it can be hard to keep track of all the characters and where they are and what they are doing all the time.

Unfortunately at this point in time the enhanced version of A Game of Thrones is only available on Apple iDevices and isn’t available in the US. You can find it on Amazon and iTunes.

iBooks 2 Brings Interactive Textbooks to the iPad (Videos)

The big news this week was Apple taking a big step into the eduction sector by releasing a new updated version of iBooks that supports interactive digital textbooks on the iPad.

Apple also introduced iBooks Author, a new app for Mac for creating and publishing those fancy new digital textbooks, along with cookbooks, picture books, and other interactive books.

Apple released a dedicated app for iTunes U as well, a service for teachers and students to create and manage courses online for everything from lectures and assignments, to books and test. And now iTunes U gives users access to the world’s largest catalog of free educational material from top universities such as Cambridge, Duke, and Harvard. But the biggest thing with the iTunes U app is that college students can use it to take entire courses, and any K-12 school district can now offer full courses through the iTunes U app as well.

Apple aims to “reinvent the textbook” with the new iBooks 2 app, where textbooks generally sell for $14.99 or less and come upgrades that paper textbooks can’t offer, such as interactive 3D images and diagrams, embedded videos and audio, content updates, on-screen notes and highlights, dictionary, and more.

Apple has already partnered with the three biggest textbook publishers: Pearson, McGraw Hill, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, as well as DK and the E.O. Wilson Foundation.

Kindle Fire: How to Get Sideloaded eBooks to Appear in eBook Library

When it comes to reading ebooks, the Kindle Fire is a lot different than other Kindles. For one, the Kindle Fire automatically sequesters sideloaded ebooks and documents from Kindle Books, making them appear in a separate section for documents instead of the main ebook library list.

Thanks to Calibre, there is an easy fix for this if you want to get your sideloaded ebooks (non-Amazon ebooks) to appear in the ebook library along with all your other Kindle ebooks.

Basically, all that is required to get sideloaded ebooks to appear in the main book list is to do a quick conversion with Calibre to add the metadata tag [EBOK] to the file.

How to Get Sideloaded eBooks to Appear in eBook Library

Import the ebook or ebooks into Calibre that you want to have appear in the Kindle Fire’s ebook library (if you’re new to Calibre, here’s a getting started guide).Select the ebook(s) and then click the “Convert books” tab to begin the conversion process.Make sure the Output Format in the upper right is MOBI. Then click the “MOBI Output” button.In the section where it says “Personal Doc tag”, remove the [PDOC] tag and replace it with [EBOK]. It needs to appear exactly like that, with capital letters and brackets.Hit “OK” to convert.Once the ebooks are finished converting, you can send them to the Kindle Fire with Calibre’s “send to device” feature by plugging the Kindle Fire into your computer with a USB cable.

That’s it! Just change the personal documents tag to [EBOK] and now your sideloaded ebooks will appear in the main ebook list instead of the personal document section. The only downside is that you have to use a USB cable to transfer the files. Changing the tag and sending them with Send to Kindle app or via email doesn’t work—they will still appear in the document section if you do that.

PocketBook Announces New PocketBook A 7″ Tablet

PocketBook International recently introduced a new tablet called the PocketBook A 7?, which is essentially a smaller version of the PocketBook A10 that was shown at IFA back in early September.

As the name implies, the new PocketBook tablet has a 7? screen. In fact, it has the same screen size and resolution as the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, but with a TFT screen instead.

The PocketBook A 7? runs a newer version of Gingerbread (Android 2.3.7) with some tweaks added by PocketBook. It comes with PocketBook’s ereading app for Adobe DRM support as well as support for several other ebook formats. It also comes with 47 ABBYY Lingvo dictionaries, a collection of 100 pre-installed classic ebooks, and supports text-to-speech in multiple languages.

According to the press release, the outer casing is made of white plastic and the back has a soft touch coating. One thing that makes the PocketBook A 7? unique is it has some added hardware buttons for turning pages. The buttons are also backlit.

The PocketBook A 7? comes with some pre-installed apps, including Office Suite Pro v.5, CoolReader, Dolphin HD browser, Adobe Flash, a HomeWork application for teachers and students, and apparently the Android Market (it mentions “Android Market” more than once in the press release but that seems kind of far-fetched; it’s probably a misinterpretation of the translation).

There’s no word yet on a release date or price (it’s rather strange to announce a device without giving either). The PocketBook A10 that was shown off back in September still isn’t available either, at least not in the US, although a student from Eastern High School left a comment last week about their school being the first in North America to have students test the PocketBook A10 for education purposes as a textbook replacement.

Firmware Update for PocketBook Pro eReaders Adds Multitasking and Other New Features

Earlier in the week, PocketBook’s RSS feed pinged about new firmware for the PocketBook Pro line of ebook readers. The actual news article is dated December 16th and the firmware is dated December 15th, so who knows why they waited so long to announce it officially.

The new firmware, version 2.1.2, is for the PocketBook Pro series and includes the touchscreen models and non-touchscreen models—the Pro 602, 603, 912, and 902. The new firmware adds some significant changes. Mostly good.

I have the PocketBook 602 and haven’t used it in several months so I thought I would bust it out (surprisingly the battery was still over half charged) and give the new firmware a test drive.

Here’s a quick overview of the new features:

Multitasking: hold down the back button to bring up a list of recently open books and opened apps to quickly move between them. This works especially well for jumping back and forth between books, and it does it as fast as turning a page. You can have as many as 10 ebooks or items open at a time.New homescreen icons and library view. The library view is much less confusing than it used to be, with more sorting and searching options. The menu fonts and homescreen icons are much darker now too, and operation is generally faster.“Open page” feature shows a preview of the last four opened pages.Touchscreen devices get a new web browser and some new annotation features and can double-tap words to hear them read aloud.Here’s the link to the release notes (PDF) for more complete details.

Overall the new firmware is a nice improvement. However, my PocketBook 602 has frozen up a couple a times while testing it and it sometimes takes forever to initially open an ebook.

Other than that, the new firmware has given me an opportunity to remember just how nice the PocketBook 602 is. It’s built really well and offers a ton of features, including some that no other ereaders have. About the only thing PocketBook’s Pro line doesn’t offer is a Pearl screen. It’s odd that they’re are still using the older Vizplex screens, even if the difference between Pearl and Vizplex isn’t that significant.

To get the new firmware, hit the PocketBook support page and choose your model. The install directions and user guides can be found there as well. Basically, just download the new firmware to your computer, extract it, then drag and drop the contents to the root of the PocketBook drive or memory card. The Best 7″ Tablet of 2012 Could be the Asus Eee Pad MeMo 370T

At CES 2012, Asus unveiled what has a chance to be one of the best 7? tablets of the year, the Asus Eee Pad MeMo. The Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet better watch their backs.

What makes the Asus Eee Pad MeMo so attractive is the combination of high-end specs and low price, not to mention the fact that Asus is one of the top tablet manufacturers thanks to the success of their line of Asus Transformer tablets.

The exact specs and release date for the Asus Eee Pad MeMo haven’t been finalized just yet. It is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2012—so sometime in April to June.

Here are the early details Asus revealed about the Eee Pad MeMo at CES:

The early specs say it all: the Asus Eee Pad MeMo has better hardware than any other 7? tablet, and the $249 price is the icing on the cake. Hopefully nothing major changes upon release. The quad-core processor, high resolution screen, and price are enough to unseat most competitors alone.

CNET seems to think highly of the Asus Eee Pad MeMo too. It was among 10 gadgets from CES 2012 to receive CNET’s “Best of CES” award.

Another New Firmware Update for Sony Reader PRS-T1

Sony has issued another firmware update for the Sony PRS-T1 that enhances performance and addresses an issue that some folks have when turning pages using the touchscreen and having it mysteriously activate the dictionary instead.

This update is the second in the past two months. In the past Sony was notorious for seldom releasing firmware updates for their ebook readers; it’s good to see the PRS-T1 getting more attention.

Here are the improvements Sony lists for the new 1.0.04.12210 firmware:

Resolves an issue where using a very short page flick to turn a page may accidentally select words and start the dictionary lookupImproves touch panel functionalityImproves stability when searching the dictionaryImproves Internet connectivityImproves Digital Rights Management (DRM) contents compatibilityResolves an issue where the Reader is unable to download some e-book files

I haven’t installed the update on my PRS-T1 and probably won’t. If you follow this blog you know that my PRS-T1 is rooted and has the Android Market and other tweaks. As a general rule, firmware updates and rooted devices don’t mix. I haven’t had any problems with the page-turn issue so I’m not going to take the chance.

To install the new update, just plug your PRS-T1 into your computer and the Sony desktop software should say there is a new firmware update available. If not, hit the help button and then “check for updates”.

If you don’t have or want the Sony desktop software, you can download update installer packages from Sony support. Here are the links to the Windows version and the Mac version.

New Homescreen for Rooted Sony PRS-T1 Adds App Drawer, Custom Shortcuts

If you saw the video I posted the other day showing the partial refresh trick on the Sony PRS-T1, you probably noticed the modified homescreen on my PRS-T1 that looks just like the regular homescreen but adds some nifty new features.

The new homescreen has three pages instead of two. The third page is an app drawer that list the Android apps installed on the PRS-T1. The second page consists of shortcuts to certain apps and the first page lists recently read titles instead of the default recently added.

You can also set which ereader app you want to open the books by default and if you know coding you can even modify the XML file to your liking to change the homescreens even more.

Here’s how to install the modified homescreen on your rooted PRS-T1 (it has to be rooted for this to work):

Download the latest homemod package from MobileRead and unzip the file.Place the homemod folder on the root of the PRS-T1, the internal sdcard.Install the EbookHomeMod.apk that’s in the homemod folder.

After installing the new homescreen you can set it as the default after pressing the home button and checking the box. To clear it as the default, uninstall the EbookHomeMod.apk or go to Android Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Home > Clear Defaults.

This is the second altered homescreen for the PRS-T1 that I’ve posted about. The other alternate homescreen is a completely new homescreen whereas this one is a modified version of the original.

Progress Being Made on CM7 for Nook Tablet (Video)

Good news for Nook Tablet owners. A lot of progress is being made on getting custom ROMs up and running on the Nook Tablet ever since devs cracked the Nook Tablet’s locked bootloader.

The devs at XDA have even managed to get CM7 to run on the Nook Tablet, although there are still a few key things that need to be fixed such as Wi-Fi and sleep mode.

Surprisingly most all of the other key features are working: the touchscreen, orientation sensor, sound, microSD card, and even hardware video acceleration.

From a software standpoint, it is running the full tablet version of Cyanogen Mod 7, complete with root access and Google Apps. CM7 is a custom version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. CM7 ROMs have worked on the Nook Color for a long time.

The main things that still need to be fixed before Nook Tablet CM7 ROMs become available to the masses is Wi-Fi (it turns on but won’t connect) and sleep mode (if it goes to sleep it won’t wake up!). The brightness control is another thing that isn’t yet functional.

It’s good to see this much progress being made on custom ROMs for the Nook Tablet but the one I’m really looking forward to is a CM9 ROM. CM9 is based on Android 4.0 and provides a more advanced and intuitive tablet-specific interface. Still, CM7 is a significant step up from the Nook Tablet’s stock software.

Coby Kyros Android 4.0 Tablets Incoming for $179 and up

Coby makes some of the most popular budget tablets on the market and are getting set to release a new line Coby Kyros tablets in the next couple of months that all run Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich.

The tablets range in size from 7-inches to 10-inches, each with a capacitive touchscreen. Coby is expected to release nine variations of these new tablets with the price range of $179 to $299.

The new tablets have the same basic specs. Each is powered by a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 single core processor (their weakest point) with 1 GB of RAM. They all have cameras and microSD card slots and the standard features like an WiFi, microphone, accelerometer, etc.

They don’t have Android Market access, they have the GetJar appstore instead, but the benefit of being cheap and widely available attributes to plenty of options for hacking and mods.

Here’s a list of the specs and prices for the new line of Coby Kyros tablets via PCMag. The interviews say Coby has nine new tablets incoming; not sure why only six are listed:

Kindle Touch Now Available Internationally; Kindle Fire Refurbs $179

There’s some good Kindle news to report this morning. First, Amazon has finally started rolling out the Kindle Touch to countries outside the US. Second, Amazon has started selling refurbished Kindle Fires for $179.

Despite the lack of an official announcement, the product page for the WiFi Kindle Touch now has the option to select a country for shipping outside the US. However, the 3G Kindle Touch still doesn’t have an international shipping option, at least not yet.

To see if your country can have the Kindle Touch shipped there, just hit the product page and check the drop-down list. Some European countries such as the United Kingdom and Germany that you would think would be able to get a Kindle shipped there can’t. I suppose Amazon is going to add them to the local Amazon sites instead.

Now for the Kindle Fire news. Yesterday refurbished Kindle Fires turned up on Amazon for $179 with free shipping. That’s fast considering it was just released in November.

I don’t know if only $20 off is going to be enticing enough, however. Usually refurbished electronics can be had for a better deal than just 10% off the regular price. Regardless, having the option to get a Kindle Fire for $179 is certainly going to appeal to some.

Sales and Deals: Tablets and eReaders (1/31/12)

It’s been a while since I’ve done a sales and deals post. Aside from a few deals here and there, since Christmas there really hasn’t been very many sales on ereaders and tablets.

Today there seems to be enough going on to scrape out a daily deals post. If you happen to find a good deal not listed below feel free to add it to the comments.

Also, I stopped by a local Target store yesterday and they had the Sony PRS-T1 on sale for $99. Target’s online price is $129 so it must be an in-store only sale. They also had the Kobo Touch for $99, but it may have been the Special Offers model.

Nook Color and Nook Touch

Once again Barnes and Noble is selling refurbished Nook Colors directly from their eBay store for $129. This is the second lowest price (it was $119 on Black Friday/Cyber Monday), aside from the ongoing $99 bundle deal for a new Nook Color with a year subscription to the New York Times.

The refurbished Nook Touch has resurfaced on Barnes and Noble’s website for $79 after having disappeared for several weeks. The Nook Touch can also be had new for free with a year subscription to the New York Times with the aforementioned bundle deal.

$99 Kindle Keyboards are Back!

A couple of months ago Amazon stopped selling the $99 Kindle keyboard, and then they ran out of $139 Kindle keyboard model too, both Wi-Fi only. I thought that maybe Amazon would stop selling them in favor of the 3G keyboard Kindle and the newer Kindles.

And now suddenly the $99 Kindle Keyboards are back in stock! But Amazon is still out of the $139 model without special offers. It looks like maybe Amazon isn’t doing away with the Wifi-only Kindle keyboards after all.

Cheap Tablets

Here are some tablets on sale. I listed them in order of goodness.

ASUS Transformer – Walmart has refurbished ASUS Transformers for $298. The Transformer sells for about $100 more new. It should be getting a software upgrade to Android 4.0 in a couple of weeks.

ViewSonic ViewPad 10s – TigerDirect has a 10? ViewSonic tablet on sale today only for $249. The ViewPad has a lot of extras like cameras, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, Android 2.2, and a 1024 x 600 screen. The main downside is it has a single core 1GHz processor that is slower than you’ll find on more expensive tablets.

Velocity Micro Cruz T301 – Walmart has the Cruz Tablet T301 for $89. It’s the one I reviewed about a year ago. It has a 7? capacitive touchscreen, comes with the Kindle for Android app, and runs Android 2.0 (there may be a newer version by this time).

PocketBook IQ – For some time now the PocketBook IQ has been selling for under $100. It’s not a bad basic tablet for that price; it’s built better than most cheap tablets like the Pandigitals. It has a resistive screen and runs Android 2.1.

Pandigital Star – Walmart has the Pandigital’s cheapest and crummiest tablet among their new line for $89. It is cheaply made but it has a lot of features for the price, including Android 2.2, an HDMI port, front camera, and it works with Barnes and Noble’s ebookstore.

Cheap eReaders

Here are a few ereaders on the cheap:

Sony PRS-T1 – If your local Target doesn’t have any for $99, $119 is about as low as it has gotten since the new year. B&H has red ones for $118.

Kobo Touch – Buy.com has the Kobo Touch with Special Offers on sale for $79. That’s $20 off the regular price. Special Offers are advertisements that appear on the homescreen and screensavers.

Kobo Wi-Fi – Best Buy has refurbished Kobo Wi-Fi ereaders for $49. This is last year’s Kobo Reader.

5? Astak EZ Reader – Geeks.com has an ereader I haven’t seen in a while, the Astak EZ Reader Pocket Pro. It has a 5? E Ink screen and supports several formats. It sells for $54.99.

Aluratek Libre PRO – Geeks.com has the Aluratek Libre PRO refurbished for $45.99. It has a 5? LCD epaper screen.

Ebook Title: List For Increasing Sales With A Killer Title

Authors often spend all their effort on creating compelling and valuable information for their content, but what about the ebook title? This is the single most important sentence you will create, and if done properly it can generate several hundred percent increase in sales. The ebook title must:

Grab the reader’s attention. Try to make the reader’s eyebrow touch his or her forehead (wow factor).

Make it so compelling that people absolutely must learn more about your offering.

Start with your primary keyword. If you are sell ebook or physical books they will be for sale on the Internet, so you need to identify your most important keyword to target. Provide a compelling solution to a problem.

How to Find a Profitable Niche Ebook Topic

Part 3: Once you have listed your hobbies and interests, it is time to see if there is a market for any of them.

Wordtracker

Go to WordTracker and sign up for a free trial. This is where the professionals do their keyword research. I will describe methods that I use, but you should try various methods to find what works best for you. Perform Full Keyword search for each of the topics on your list following the steps below:

1. Log into Wordtracker.

2. Click on “Full Search”.

3. Add your keyword or phrase.

4. Check the box for as many of the associated search terms as you wish that are related to golf.

5. Click “Email Results” to yourself and save the email in a “Keyword” file that may be used later, perhaps after your Wordtracker subscription has expired. Use the keyword that you did the search for as the subject for the email so that you will know which is which in your email account. The keywords and analysis can serve as a valuable brainstorming tool for coming up with new products for niche markets.

6. Click on “Click for Results” at the bottom of page.

7. Click on all the keyphrases that meet your popularity requirements. Count: This number indicates how many times a certain keyword appeared in the Wordtracker database. The Wordtracker database holds about 300,000,000 words, so a count of 200 means that the keyword appeared 200 times over a 130 day period. Predict: This number indicates the maximum predicted daily searches for all major search engines and includes pay per bids and directories and includes:

•    Google

•    Yahoo

•    MSN

•    Ask

•    AOL

•    Altavista

•    Excite

•    Lycos

8.    Click the “Click Here To Perform A Competition Search”

9.    Choose one or two search engines to analyze. The program only allows two search engines for each search to avoid overloading servers. Select Google and the second search engine of your choice (I usually use Yahoo as my second choice).

10.  Look for keywords and phrases that could all be used for your product. How many keywords and phrases have a KEI of more than 100? If there are only a few, then it may prove to be a tough market to break into. The more keywords and phrases with little competition provide the opportunity for you and your affiliates to create articles and blog postings that can rank high in search engines, which can result in more traffic/sales.

KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index): Basically the higher the KEI number the better. Higher KEI keywords are popular and have less competition. This is a good tool for determining niche markets, domain names, and keywords for webpages.

In the above example, the results are for Google only, which is about 68% of the market share. This means that the 24-hour count of 1,423 for Golf Cages is more like 2,093 including all search engines and directories.

The Competing column shows the results of the number of competing webpages for this search engine. It is a good idea to check out the top search results for the keywords you are considering to determine if the webpages have evidence of advanced search engine optimization (SEO). If the top couple of pages of results are filled with well optimized webpages, your chances of obtaining organic search traffic is slim. (define organic search traffic).

In the above list there are only a couple of keywords with a decent KEI. Perhaps there is a market for a “Build Your Own Backyard Golf Cages Guide” with bonus products related to improving golf skills.

Ebooks? No Problem for Penguin CEO

John Makinson says publishers must give customers what they want, and if that means new technology that is no problem.

Penguin celebrates 75 years and is marking the anniversary by repackaging a series of seminal books from the 1960s to the 1980s. Although the company might afford itself a brief look backwards, it feels as though there is little room for nostalgia in book publishing now, as the industry turns its face firmly – and apprehensively – to the future.

Amazon last week announced sales of ebooks on its US site had outnumbered hardbacks for the first time, stunning casual observers, even if it had not been entirely unexpected in the trade.

The launch of the iPad has added a sense of urgency. Where music went first, books are set to follow, although Penguin and other publishers would hope without the same devastating effects. Amazon this week launched a cheaper, more lightweight version of its Kindle ebook reader and a digital store on its UK site, while others, including Google, are muscling in. Writing Ebook Tips: Explode Income with These Nuggets of Information

You have been hearing about it, or you know what it is, but need help finding the right niche for you. You will find the tools and steps in this whitepaper. Dictionary.com’s most appropriate definition of ‘niche’, as far as Internet Marketers are concerned, is “a distinct segment of a market”. An example, golf is a large market, golf clubs are a niche of that market, and golf club driver heads are a sub-niche of the niche. You can continue down the line further if necessary, such as golf>club>driver heads>Taylor Made.

So why is it so important to market to a niche market?

Most importantly, the rate of success selling in a niche market is much higher than selling in a broad and generic market.

Is it easy to identify a niche market to sell products to?
It can be time consuming, but it is the most critical step that you will make to earn money on the Internet. It is much less difficult if you know how to conduct the research. This is the first and most important step to finding a niche market.

The niche market that you enter must have your interest. If you are not interested in the market, your drive and effectiveness will wane, and your profits will follow.

You also need the skills that are needed to support and back up your product as you will become known as a respected expert in the field by providing a valuable resource to the market.

You want to identify a hot market with a hungry target market that ‘needs’ or ‘really, really wants’ your product. It is important to pick a market that can afford to purchase your product. Consider the spending habits of your target market. Is this a market where people spend lots of disposable income on themselves for entertainment purposes (think golf: mostly professional with money to pump into green fees and equipment each year)? Is this market full of impulsive buyers or procrastinators? Watch out for markets that may be potentially tight fisted (check the related website forums for how many people are looking for deals and free items), analytical, (think engineers. My father and wife are engineers, and it takes them an eternity to purchase anything, regardless of cost. By the time their analysis is complete, the make or model is discontinued or updated so the research cycle continues…), and trust based (the market that may buy medical field information products, such as on a disorder or disease), are a tough sell because they are looking for the trust factor. If they don’t know your name and you have no credible and recognizable sponsors or testimonials, you will have a tough sell.
This may sound difficult, but it isn’t. Since you are reading this document, I will guess that you want to make a decent living with Internet Marketing, so you will repeat the process over and over until it becomes second nature. And starting off correctly with your first product will dramatically increase your chances of success. Some things to keep in mind are:

1. Remember that hot selling topics will always include dating/relationships, making money, and dieting.

2. Make certain the topics you write about are not something that will embarrass you because you will become a recognized expert in the field, so

3. Make certain that you enjoy the topic of your choice, as the project will seem more like a hobby with the benefit of revenue rather than a job or career.

4. Make certain that you understand the needs of the customer in the market that you are considering. I cannot stress this enough. If you understand the needs of your potential customers, you will have an enormous advantage over about 97% of your competitors. An example, I spent a ton of time and money researching a topic for Internet Marketing, but nobody actually showed me in detail, the information was scattered around the Internet in multiple forums and eBooks.
